Job Description and Person Specification

Bloom.Space is a co-working office and private members space providing wonderful office facilities, retail studios and event space in a large ground floor premises in the shopping area of Hereford at 37 Eign Gate HR4 0AB.

We also have a private Grade II Listed building called “The Grange” in the heart of Great Malvern as well as offices in Chestnut House in Rugby, with other locations planned.

The role of Host is to ensure that Bloom.Space and the shared retail studios are a wonderful place to work and run a business.

We run regular social events for members with drinks and food provided, and our members have use of the whole building with a shared kitchen, multiple meeting spaces, co-working desks, events space and lounges. Tea, coffee, colour printing, secure Wi-Fi, 24/7 access and unlimited use of the hot desks is included in out monthly rolling membership packages. We also have fixed desks and private spaces for those that want them. There are approximately 60 people sharing the Malvern offices and around the same in Rugby, so we hope it’ll be the same in Hereford.

Bloom.Space/hereford also offers retail studios to small businesses that want to try out an idea on the high street. We have a lot of very prominent window space, and this is offered to companies on a short-term contract so they can test their retail ideas in a supportive and low-risk environment.

The role of Host is managing and delivering a service which ensures that Bloom.Space and the retail studios are a wonderful place to work and run a business.

Following detailed training, the Host role will include:

 ·      Ensuring that the offices are clean and tidy and remain a wonderful place to work

·      Ensuring that the retail studios are ready for new traders, and that they are looking great at all times

·      Looking after the plants!

·      Showing round potential Bloom.Space members and answering questions

·      Greeting new retailers and members, showing them the facilities and making them feel welcome

·      Organising events

·      Setting up and clearing up after events

·      Identifying health and safety problems

·      Risk assessments and taking mitigating action

·      General building facilities testing and maintenance

·      Helping promote Bloom.Space online and offline

·      Liaising with suppliers and contractors

·      Disposal of waste and recycling

·      Purchasing supplies using the company card

 

Person Specification:

This role will suit someone who enjoys being hospitable and making sure that their workplace is a wonderful place. Someone friendly and relaxed who is approachable and keen to assist will enjoy keeping the offices and retail space looking great. There is a large degree of cleaning, maintenance and facilities management involved, with health and safety paramount, so this role will suite someone who is interested in learning how to manage buildings, take responsibility, be proactive and really taking pride in ensuing places look nice for the customers. 

Extensive training and the opportunity to shadow other staff will be provided to ensure that the Host understands all the parts of the role and can take responsibility for them once they’re ready.

Hours will be full-time (a total of 40 a week) worked in shifts to be agreed in advance, mostly between 9am to 6pm Mon-Fri.

We will aim to keep shifts to sociable hours as much as possible, but some weekend work may be needed, and evening weekday working will occasionally needed for assisting with events.

The job could be done part-time as a job share and adapted to fit around caring responsibilities.

Full holiday pay, sick pay and pension will be paid at the statutory rates.

There is also a monthly bonus scheme in place, worth around £2000 per year, in addition to the salary which is £25,344 per year. A parking space will be provided nearby to the office.
